2007 The CHUMMs Strategy Orange Route chosen as the preferred route.
January 2008 Early Contractor Involvement contract awarded to a Joint Venture Company composed of Costain and Skanska. The joint venture also includes Atkins as designers for the scheme. The management team will be based at Atkin’s Girton Office.
The Joint Venture Company will complete the outline design and prepare an Environmental Statement and they are likely to construct the Fen Drayton to Histon stage.
June 2008 Transport Secretary, Ruth Kelly, visits Cambridgeshire and says she hopes to make an announcement soon about upgrading the A14.
Mid 2008 Ground investigation surveys being carried out.
July 2008 Transport Secretary, Ruth Kelly, announces funding of A14 expansion between Ellington and Fen Drayton.
Late 2008 Series of public exhibitions showing detailed proposals.
Spring 2009 Draft Orders to be published for alterations to side roads, private access roads and powers of land acquisition.
Late 2010 Public Inquiry.
Late 2011 Possible start of construction.
2015 Possible completion of construction.
