Friendship Club
Tom Baugh, our local PCSO (Police Community Support Officer) and Mani, the PCSO for
Bar Hill, came along to our meeting on Thursday 6th February and talked to us about
themselves and the job that they do for our local community. Their work complements,
and supports, regular police officers, providing a visible and accessible uniformed
presence to improve the quality of life in the community and offer greater public
reassurance. All PCSOs have the power to issue fixed penalty notices, eg cycling
on footpaths, dog fouling and depositing litter. They also have the power to confiscate
alcohol and tobacco; power to demand the name and address of a person acting in an

On Thursday 20th February, the club held its AGM and 21st Birthday celebration.
Unfortunately, due to the increased charges of speakers throughout 2013, the club ran at a loss, and a motion to increase entry charges from £1.50 to £2.50 was put to the attending members and accepted by them. We are now looking to invite local people, from within the village or close by, who will come along and entertain us at a more reasonable charge. A motion to cut meetings from twice monthly to once monthly was also put forward, but rejected for the time being.

The Friendship Club meets on alternate Thursday evenings, in the village hall, at 7.30 pm. Entry is £2.50 which includes tea/coffee and biscuits. There is a raffle (optional) at 50p. Everyone is welcome, either as a member or a one off visit if something specific appeals to you.
